RESEARCH PROCESS in 6 STEPS

Step 1
Onboarding

First step is an initial meeting to inquire about the capabilities and aspirations of our SciLux Scholar candidate.

In this meeting, our team identifies the opportunities for the candidate. Subsequently, customized project ideas and a mentor are assigned from an international pool of top notch mentors fitting the student's desired project plan.

Step 2
Introduction

After SciLux team identifies a relevant mentor in the scholar's desired field, an introduction meeting is set between the student and the mentor.

The purpose of this meeting is to create a project topic and start the SciLux research process.

The first 2 steps are free of charge with no commitment from the student.

Step 3
Scholarly Meeting 1

This is the first official meeting between the mentor and student, marking the start of the Student’s program.

Student and mentor will review and discuss the various topics of interest that the student has gone over since the last discussion. Mentor will then help the student select one of these topics for the student project.

Based on the selected topic, Mentor will guide the student to develop a research project to pursue throughout the course of their SciLux experience.

Step 4
Research Meetings 2 -
5

Once both mentor and student have identified the project topic and means of collecting research, the student will begin their project.

Over the course of meetings 2 - 5, the student and mentor will meet regularly to discuss and review findings of the  student throughout their research process.

In these meetings, SciLux mentor guides the student toward the essential areas needed to fully understand the topic and provides the necessary insight and coaching to the student.

Meeting 5 should culminate in the student’s creation of an annotated bibliography-like review of the student’s collection of sources or an abstract of the project deliverable

Step 5
Deliverable Meetings 6 - 9

Between meetings 6  through 9, the student will begin to finalize their deliverable. During this phase, student would be sending drafts of their sections to their mentor.

Mentor reviews the student’s drafts/progress in between the meetings, and provides feedback into the student’s work.

For every meeting, scholar would have a new section ready for review by the mentor.

Step 6
Deliverable Meeting 10

By meeting 10, the student should be able to present their finished work.

During this meeting, mentor and student would discuss and review the scholarly work of the student. At this stage, mentor would pose questions and determine the knowledge and understanding the student has been able to develop.

Once the mentor and student have discussed and consolidated the output, the project will be sent to the SciLux team for review and finalization.

SciLux will then edit and attach a cover with a section for certifying the work and send it back to the mentor for final evaluation.

Finally, the mentor will sign off on the work, sealing their supervision and endorsement of the student’s scholarly project.
